Welcome to SurfControl E-mail Filter 5.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) for SMTP. This release contains the fixes listed below. SurfControl Technical Support can be contacted by phone or e-mail.

If there are multiple ASA Heuristics Rules defined and the scan mode (either Full Scan of message header and body, or Quick Scan of header only) differs between each instance, the Scan Mode of the last entry added in the list will be used for all ASA scans irrespective of the setting in the individual rules.

Installing Service Pack 1

You can install Service Pack 1 over the following installations of E-mail Filter 5.5.

·         SurfControl E-mail Filter 5.5 (with or without hot-fixes applied)

To install Service Pack 1, click on the setup.exe file and follow the Setup Wizard.

Note: You need to install the Service Pack on all instances of E-mail Filter, including Administration Client installations. A restart will be required if some of the files that need to be updated are locked by other processes.

Uninstall Service Pack 1

To roll back Service Pack 1 to the previous installation of E-mail Filter 5.5, run the setup.exe file to launch the setup wizard. Select Uninstall Service Pack 1.

If you have installed Service Pack 1 on a dual processor machine and want to roll back the installation, you must stop the Scheduler service before uninstalling Service Pack 1. If the Scheduler service is still running when you uninstall Service Pack 1, the Datastore.dll and MailMessage.dll files from the Service Pack will be left behind.

To roll back the installation:

1.       Stop the Scheduler service manually: right-click the E-mail Filter icon in your system tray and select Stop Scheduler Service from the menu.

2.       Uninstall Service Pack 1 using the setup wizard.

Note: A restart will be required if some of the files that need to be rolled back to previous version are locked by other processes.
